Teaching and Assessment

When preparing to teach the two lessons I had originally planned, I modified a few things to make it fit more easily into our 2nd grade curriculum. Instead of choosing any famous American, all students did a project on Abraham Lincoln because he was the subject of one of our weekly reading stories. The students got a good deal of information from the story Abraham Lincoln by Dolores Malone in their reading textbook. Another change I made, was that the journal entries could not take place over the course of one class period. The final change I made was that all students made a google slide presentation with their partner and all students did one journal entry in google docs. Reflecting on the lessons, they would have been better planned to cover over the course of one whole week, rather than two days. Overall, I liked doing the lessons because they related so well with what we are already studying with an added technology component. I am proud of my students, but it was a lot for 2nd graders to complete well. Overall, the objectives were met, but in the future, I think I could definitely amend the lessons to work more effectively.
